Cashing in National Lottery scratchcards during lockdown
If you’ve been into one of the big-name supermarkets recently – big and small stores – you will have noticed that most retailers have stuck a notice over the scratchcard games, warning players to only make “essential purchases”.
Notice that do not ‘ban’ scratchcard purchases, but they do state that they ‘will not be able to pay out prizes whether that be online or scratchcard’.
This seems a somewhat counterintuitive policy, but I’m sure they are still happy to take money for scratchcards.
However, we at scratchcard winners tested this policy; and we still managed to buy and cash in a scratchcard.
Like most things going on right now, nobody seems to know the ‘proper’ rules, so this looks like is varies from cashier to cashier.
Some of our players have noticed that you get better luck buying and cashing in scratchcards from small, independent stores, rather than the big chains.
